Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Screenwriter Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for screenwriters, possessing a deep understanding of the film and television industry, strong relationships with key players, and a proven track record of success in nurturing and guiding creative talent.

Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with agents, managers, producers, development executives, studio executives, showrunners, directors, actors, and other industry professionals. Represent the company at industry events, writers' rooms, pitch meetings, table reads, film festivals, and screenwriting conferences.

  • Creative Development: Provide comprehensive support to screenwriters in the development, writing, and rewriting of screenplays, television pilots, spec scripts, treatments, outlines, bibles, and other written materials. Offer constructive feedback and guidance on story structure, character development, dialogue, theme, genre, pacing, plot twists, and market trends.

  • Pitching and Packaging: Collaborate with screenwriters to craft compelling pitches and presentations to showcase their work. Identify opportunities to package projects with directors, actors, and other creatives to enhance marketability.

  • Sales and Negotiation: Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for script sales, options, and writing assignments. Skillfully negotiate contracts and secure favorable terms for screenwriters, including compensation, credits, creative control, backend participation, and rights ownership.

  • Industry Networking: Facilitate introductions to potential collaborators, including directors, producers, actors, financiers, and showrunners. Actively participate in industry events, workshops, and festivals to promote screenwriters and their work.

  • Competition and Fellowship Submissions: Encourage and assist screenwriters with submissions to screenwriting competitions, fellowships, labs, and writers' programs to enhance their recognition, industry exposure, and professional development.

  • Intellectual Property Protection: Advise screenwriters on copyright registration, WGA registration, and other intellectual property matters.

  • Script Doctoring and Rewriting: Connect screenwriters with opportunities for script doctoring and rewriting assignments to further develop their skills, gain experience, and generate income.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, Creative Writing, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a screenwriter manager, agent, or similar role in the film and television industry.

  • Established network of industry contacts, including agents, producers, and studio executives.

  • In-depth knowledge of screenwriting principles, story structure, and industry trends.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.

  • Passion for nurturing and supporting creative talent.

  • Experience as a screenwriter or script reader.
